After 3 and a half years of intensive research and innovation, we are all excited we have organized and participated in the DATUM workshop, the last time we all met in person within the RAIS Consortium. The 1st International Workshop on Data Analytics for Personal & Ubiquitous Computing was co-located with the EDBT/ICDT joint Conference that took place in Ioannina from the 28th to the 31st of March, 2023.

We had the pleasure of attending two very interesting talks by the keynote speakers. Panayiotis Tsaparas presented the “Centrality Fairness in Networks”, and Nikos Laoutaris talked about “Using mobile network data to color epidemic risk maps”. Additionally, 6 outstanding researchers presented their accepted works in interdisciplinary topics related to the Internet of Things (IoT). Lastly, the 13 RAIS PhD fellows presented their 5-min flash talks regarding their recent research in the last months.

Moreover, we are thrilled to announce that Ioannis Mavroudopoulos presented his latest work on a scalable end-to-end system in smart agriculture monitoring at the workshop BigVis of the EDBT/ICDT conference in Ioannina, Greece. This system is the product of collaboration between our Research lab – Data and Web Science Lab (Datalab) and the American Farm School, and it aims to efficiently extract knowledge from real-time data to facilitate day-to-day activities in smart agriculture.
