Online course on “Knowledge Extraction and Analytics – Threat Detection in Healthcare Cybersecurity”

curex course

Associate Prof. Apostolos Papadopoulos compiled the course “Knowledge Extraction and Analytics – Threat Detection in Healthcare Cybersecurity”, which covers fundamental algorithmic techniques for knowledge discovery focusing on anomaly detection. In particular, the course studies techniques to detect threats from stream-based data. First, the basic concepts and tools used for anomaly detection (or outlier detection) in general are discussed and then we concentrate on algorithmic techniques for outlier mining from data streams. Next, we center our focus on topics related with the CUREX H2020 project on healthcare cybersecurity, and more specifically on the application of state-of-the-art techniques for detecting unusual events. Finally, the Knowledge Extraction Analytics tool, which adopts the presented techniques in order to predict security incidents and identify new threat patterns in health systems, is demonstrated by Dr. Athanasios Naskos.
